Get Up And Go invites clever, fun, delightful members of our Go-To community to take us with them on their morning routine, sharing their go-to tips, products, and favourite pancake toppings as they go. Today, we’re getting up with college professor and beauty writer extraordinaire, Rachel Anise.
The Life Stuff
“I live in LA and am a full time college professor of Communication Studies, a full time beauty writer and, most proudly, a mom of a three year old little girl named Joey Elle. I started my site Beauty Professor nearly ten years ago and am grateful for the business (I also am active on Instagram and have a YouTube channel of the same name) that Beauty Professor has become. I am passionate about sharing honest reviews of luxury skin care and makeup for my audience and aim to be a trusted resource in an expansive sea of products.
Typically, I wake up early (Joey is a natural and adorable alarm clock) and usually hit the ground running. I run through my skincare, do a quick five minute face, make breakfast for Joey Elle and start on my international and East Coast emails for the day. Then, I usually have some Zoom meetings (lecture or beauty) and shoot and write content later in the afternoon.
Getting the day off to a positive start is a matter of outlook. Even on exceptionally busy, semi-overwhelming days (which, in reality, are frequent), I try to remind myself that it’s a blessing and an honour to get to do what I do. That perspective of gratitude keeps me going strong and with purpose! Also, don’t forget to start the day with some water and a bit of physical movement; your body will thank you.”
The Beauty Stuff
“I would classify my skin type as normal and my chief concerns are keeping fine lines and wrinkles at bay and making sure my complexion is as bright, even and clear as possible.
After cleansing, I apply skin care (typically toner, moisturiser and SPF). I have been using Much Brighter Skin for nearly a month. Because it is multipurpose, I’ve been using it first thing in the morning after cleansing and in the evening before going to bed. This is followed by a round of foundation (my weakness!) and bronzer, mascara, and lipstick. I love how collected and polished just a bit of makeup can make me feel and the process also gets me excited about tackling the day ahead.
For hair, I am super low-maintenance. Since I generally wash at night, the morning involves just a quick brushing and maybe a few minutes with hot rollers, especially if I have a shoot or a day of meetings.
Much Brighter Skin has positively impacted my routine as it cuts down on my skin care steps without compromising the efficacy. The ingredients in this gem hydrate, calm and nourish my skin while contributing to a clear and glowing complexion. I absolutely love it! Each time I apply Much Brighter Skin, my face feels hydrated, balanced and bouncy with a fresh glow.
My favorite thing about the formula is how multidimensional it is! The fact that I am getting moisture along with the restorative benefits of Vitamin C and calming effects of niacinamide is brilliant! It is remarkably lightweight, adds an immediate non-greasy glow and it smells incredible, which is uncommon for a Vitamin C serum.”
