How Much Is Your Skincare Really Costing You?

How Much Is Your Skincare Really Costing You?

If you’re anything like us, you’ve probably been asking yourself: why isn’t my fiddle leaf thriving (winter), does this blazer actually need to be dry cleaned (nah), and how much does my skincare routine really cost?

A couple of clever chickens in the office did the math, so you don’t have to, and wound up discovering your morning and evening skincare routines can cost as little as $13 a week. Which is excellent news because (don’t say it, don’t say it….) the cost of living (dammit) has us all checking in on cash flow

Using go-to snacks as a reference point, we’re going to empower you with the information about how much your Go-To skincare routine costs and how that stacks up against some chips n’ cheese.

HOW WE DID IT.

Across the range we divided the total grams of each product, by the weighted dose as outlined on all packaging (two pumps or five drops or one dollop!) (this is something our formulations team calculate during the development phase). Then, dividing the total cost by the number of weighted doses in each bottle/tub/tube, gave us the cost per use.

So! With these results in cents and dollars, we were able to build daily and weekly routines for you.

Let’s do a couple together:

In a bottle of Properly Clean, you have 150g of mousse ready and waiting to make your face soft. And to do that we recommend two pumps per cleanse, which our expert formulators have confirmed is equal to 1.7g.

150g divided by 1.70g = 88.2 uses

$33 divided by 88 uses = $0.38 per use

$0.38 x 7 days = $2.66 per week (when used only of a morning)

In a bottle of Much Brighter Skin, you have 30g of serum ready and waiting to protect your face. And to do that we recommend one pump per use, which our mates in the lab have confirmed is equal to 0.27g.

30g divided by 0.27g = 111.1 uses

$59 divided by 111 uses = $0.53 per application

$0.53 x 7 days = $3.71 per week (when used only of a morning)

WHY WE DID IT.

Because it makes for mouthwatering, scroll-stopping content. But also to prove you can build a skincare routine that is both affordable and efficacious.

We’re not saying you have to pick one or the other. Nor are we implying you can’t have both. Pitting these core products against popular groceries items was meant to reiterate the value of nourishing your skin with moisturisers and serums and SPF you love and trust.
