Vampire Skin Is Trending On TikTok

TikTok is the birthplace of yet another beauty trend (sit down, honey skin, dolphin skin, glass skin, do I keep going?). Leaning into the defining cultural movement of the early noughties that revolved around a very mythical teen love triangle, we introduce a new candescent makeup look reminiscent of the Cullens.

But, just so you know, we’re still firmly Team Jacob.

What is vampire skin?

Collecting over 1.5 million views across the platform to date #vampireskin isn’t just for the Twilight fanatics, but the glitter obsessed too. TikTok user August Sombatkamrai is to thank for recreating the immortalised complexion; a super hydratey, sparkly, (surprisingly) subtle look that needs a night out this summer.

How do I get vampire skin?

Good news is, vampire skin is fairly straightforward, and you’ll likely have all the necessary products sitting in your bathroom already. First, you’ll want to really prep and plump your skin, so we recommend the following skincare routine:

  1. Cleanse: Thoroughly massage 1-2 pumps of cleanser - mousse, gel, lotion, pick your poison - all over your damp face for at least 60 seconds, then rinse.
  2. Mist: Your in-betweener product! For skin spritzing! Damp skin is much more permeable and makes it easier for products to perform at full effectiveness.
  3. Mask: A super nourishing sheet mask is going to deliver instant results for the skin. Because they contain a high concentration of active ingredients, like ours, drenched in niacinamide, they almost work like an express facial!
  4. Moisturise: This is how you’re going to lock in all the hydration you’ve just pumped into your pretty pores. (Will also prevent your skin from dehydrating while you sip on numerous spicy margs.)

Then, you’re going to want to grab a makeup mixing palette, so, realistically, the back of your hand, and combine your foundation with a cream glitter formula. Apply to the face as you would your foundation every other day and watch that sheen build. Ooo!

Thirsty for more glittery hacks?

The colour of glitter used is quite important, best to opt for a silver or gold hue for that barely-there effect.

You could also use a fan brush to lightly sweep loose glitter onto any areas you would typically highlight, like the tops of your cheekbones, brow bone, inner corners of the eye, bridge of the nose, and cupid’s bow. Literally shedding light on your best facial features.

And if you really want to round out the look, why restrict the sparkle to only your face? Prime your limbs with a nourishing body oil before adding body glitter to your arms, legs, and decolletage specifically. Magic.

“Skin of a killer” says who? We simply love to see the Twilight saga continue.
