Ailish, Go-To’s Brand Coordinator, is the type of person to arrive at meetings with some sort of freshly baked treat in tow. When she’s not wrangling all things Go-To, you’ll find her hanging with her very cute dogs (Dusty and Tayto) and snacking on a bag of crisps (always open, never far). Her approach to skincare? Effective and a touch luxurious, powered by peptides and plenty of SPF. We decided to ask her how she skincares.
Star Sign: I'm a Libra that strongly identifies with difficulty in decision making.
Skin Sign: Swan
Age: 29
Skin Type: My skin oscillates between dry and normal. It's on the drier side at the moment in the cold weather.
Skin Concerns: As a 29-year-old with very fair skin that grew up in Australia, my concerns are mostly around fine lines and pigmentation. I've always been a bit freckly, but sun-spotty-looking bits, not just the usual summer freckles, have started cropping up. I don't mind the fine lines so much, but would prefer to slow down their descent into full-blown wrinkles if possible.
Routine In A Few Words: Oooh! Effective and indulgent.
AM Routine: I keep the morning pretty basic!
-
I splash my face with water (or will cleanse with Properly Clean if I've used an overnight mask).
-
Apply a vitamin C serum, Much Brighter Skin is my pick.
-
Follow with Very Luxe Face Cream.
-
Then Nifty Fifty Fluid.
I let the SPF sit for about 20 mins (make tea, fix my hair up, have a lil brekky) and then follow with makeup.
PM Routine:
My PM routine changes depending on what my skin is craving that day. It generally follows this routine:
-
Fancy Face to remove makeup, SPF, grime and dirt from the day.
-
I follow up with Juicy Gel to double cleanse, making sure I'm properly cleaning my skin.
-
This is the step where I mix things up between a hydrating serum, retinal or exfoliator. I use Much Plumper Skin to hydrate and plump, Gentle Exfoliator to, well, gently exfoliate, and Very Amazing Retinal to help ward off pigmentation and fine lines.
-
Face oil has been a game changer in my routine. It's made a huge difference in keeping my skin consistently happy and nourished. I, of course, am a dedicated Face Hero user.
-
And finally, I lock in all the goodness with the one and only, Very Luxe Face Cream.
Tidbit! I'm also a big fan of The Repair Shop on a Sunday Night to start the week with bouncy, hydrated skin.
Skincare Advice: It's such a basic one, but start wearing SPF as young as possible. Not only for its unmatched anti-ageing abilities, but for the sun protection. I've had several sun spots burnt off already. The Aussie sun is no joke, people!
Your Favourite Skincare Ingredient: Hmm it changes season to season, but at the moment I can't get enough peptides. Gimme them all!
Skincare Sin: I'm better at it now, but in the past, I've definitely layered serums that should not have been mixed. I lived to tell the tale, but it's a risky game to play with your skin barrier.
How Your Relationship With Skincare Changed: My relationship with skincare has evolved over time from makeup wipes and moisturiser to knowing what ingredients do what, deep diving into products, and finding the perfect routine for me and my skin. I now see it as ‘me-time’ that I look forward to each day rather than a ‘Oh I have to take my makeup off cause the internet told me’ time.
Where Do Your Skincare: I skincare in my bedroom! Usually with a podcast or audio book on.
Why Do You Skincare: I skincare because I enjoy it! I find it relaxing, revitalising, and a couple of moments for myself each day.
